This week the Enterprising Moms Network found out something very exciting regarding our Charity Blogging at the 2009 Whistler Film Festival. As we mentioned in one of our posts, there was a potential bonus for our charities. Silk Concept Duvets very generously donated a Mulberry Silk Deluxe Duvet that will be awarded to one blogger. The $800 value of this duvet, combined with the VIP gift bag, would bring the total gift value donation to our charity at $1,800.00.

We were told this week by Gabrielle Durning of the Uptown Gift Box Company, that the EMN charity (BC Children's Hospital Foundation) would be the recipient of the Silk Concepts Duvet!

Thank you again to everyone who followed our blog, and followed us on Twitter, retweeting our posts and comments!

Well, I think that just about wraps it up! It's almost 5 o'clock on the west coast and that means it's the end of the Bloggers Lounge at the 2009 Whistler Film Festival.

Taking part in an event such as this definitely draws a correlation between the business of being a mompreneur and connecting with community. It also shows moms in business the strength in social media, and how important it is to incorporate elements such as blogging into your business. For the Enterprising Moms Network to be able to take part in the 2009 Whistler Film Festival’s Charity Bloggers Lounge while giving back to the community by way of the $1,000.00 VIP Gift bag donation to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, is absolutely an honor and a privilege.

Thank you again to Gabrielle Durning of the Uptown Giftbox Company - for an excellent experience - you are fabulous! It was wonderful to meet all of the bloggers and exhibitors, as well as the attendees of the festival.

See you in 2010 - that's a wrap!

Yes, this is the Enterprising Moms Network, but we've always empasized that one of the beauties of our network is that you don't have to be a Mom to be part of us.

However, I don't think we have an children that are members.

 That might have to change...

As Gabrielle Durning gave us a tour of the VIP Lounge at the 2009 Whistler Film Fest, she showcased each and every one of the products and told us the story about each company. They were all interesting (of course) but by far, the most interesting story was that of Nicole Hein.

At the age of TWELVE years old, Nicole started her own company - Tu-Bees Foods Inc. Tu-Bees Foods provides consumers with a convenient and unique way to enjoy the great taste of Saskatchewan honey with the use of Tu-Bees squeezable tubes. The soft laminate tubes are compact and portable, providing a clean and easy product to take with them while on the go.

The story is that two years ago, Nicole wanted a horse. And her mom said that somehow, she would need to raise some funds and show responsibility for having a horse.

So Nicole went out and started her own company. And two years later, she's very, very successful with it! Since Tu-Bees began, Nicole and Tu-Bees have been featured on CTV News, CBC News and Radio, Local TV stations, as well as in newspapers and magazines. Because of this, Tu-Bees has gone from being sold locally to being available in stores throughout Saskatchewan. Tu-Bees is slowly expanding into neighboring provinces and presently has two distributors that provide worldwide shipping to both consumers and retailers.

Incredibly inspiring story. Enterprising Kids, it could be the next big thing....

The Bloggers in the VIP Lounge of the 2009 Whistler Film Fest were told today of a very special added bonus for our charities. Silk Concept Duvets has very generously donated a Mulberry Silk Deluxe Duvet that will be awarded to one blogger.

The value of this duvet is $800.00, which combined with the VIP gift bag, would bring the total gift value donation to our charity at $1,800.00.

How can Enterprising Moms help us out with this? First - follow all of our tweets on Twitter - if you see one of our tweets that has the hashtags #whisfilmfest #emn, then please, please, retweet it! At the end of the day, the festival VIP lounge organizers will do a search of the hashtags and the blogger with the most one wins! We only have less than an hour of blogging to go - so RT, RT, RT!!!

BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) supports the people, places and things required to ensure BC’s kids have access to outstanding pediatric care. Since 1982, BC Children's Hospital Foundation has worked with children, families, caregivers and hundreds of thousands of British Columbians to give Children’s Hospital, and the Child & Family Research Institute the resources they need to excel.

In 2000, BCCHF merged with the Sunny Hill Foundation for Children (SHFC), which raises funds for the children served by the Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children. The merger enables the two organizations to maximize revenues for the benefit of child health, increase efficiencies and eliminate duplication.

Through a wide range of fundraising events and opportunities, the Foundation is united with its donors by a single, simple passion - to improve the health and the lives of the young people who enter BC Children's Hospital every day.

There is an amazing amount of businesses that are represented here at the 2009 Whistler Film Fest. These businesses all contributed to the awesome gift bag that the VIPS and the Charity Bloggers will be receiving and the selection is absolutely amazing!

Some of the businesses here include: Aroma Crystal, Watergeeks, LibreTea, Tu-bees, Elevate Me, Fleas Knees and Hoodoo Designs. The Aya Accessories sunglasses by Claudia Alan Eyewear are amazing. The stunning designs by First Nation artist Corinne Hunt (designer of the 2010 Olympic medals) etched into the glasses. Truly unique and one of a kind!

There are many, many more businesses here also.  We're off to take some more individual photos of the products!

We've experienced a little difficulty with the wifi connection at the hotel... stand by for all of the blog posts that we've been writing while waiting!!!

What exactly is "Charity Blogging"? I thought this would be a good time to explain a little more fully what the Enterprising Moms Network is doing up at the 2009 Whistler Film Festival.

This amazing event has been organized by Gabrielle Durning, of the Uptown Gift Box Company. She has an awesome selection of one-of-a-kind gift bags from great BC vendors, with a value of approximately $1,000.00 Each blogger that is here in the VIP lounge will receive one of these gift bags... ... but not to keep... :(

Instead, we are to give this gift bag & all of it's contents to the charity of our choice. Enterprising Moms Network is proud to be supporting the BC Children's Hospital Foundation with this event. BCCHF is currently fundraising to build a new hospital, and BC kids are totally worth blogging and schmoozing for an afternoon in Whistler.

So thank you, Gabrielle, for organizing this awesome part of the 2009 Film Festival. It is truly awesome for the Enterprising Moms Network to be a part of this.

.. you get to a VIP Lounge for a Film Festival and there is a dog/lounge mascot.

Meet Archie. He's a GoldenDoodle and he is the lounge mascot of the 2009 Whistler Film Festival. He'll be keeping us company today, as we blog away about the festival and helping to raise money for our individual charities.

EMN's charity, in case you've forgotten, is the BC Children's Hospital Foundation.  :)
