Lullaby League
|
Amy van Weelderen is the founder of Lullaby League and lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a busy mother, she was constantly searching for babysitters and never felt comfortable replying to posted notices or classified ads. She needed someone or something to come to the rescue and help her out. An idea was born, babysitters were located and Lullaby League comes to save the day for her and dozens of other parents like her.
Lullaby League holds social “mixers” where parents meet a dozen or so fun and fabulous university and college students who are looking for babysitting jobs. This is the perfect way to meet, chat, see resumes and get to know each other…face to face. Parents will have a chance to have 3 to 4 minute “mini interviews’ with each sitter candidate to get a feel for who they are and how they might fit into their family. This is truly a cost-effective way of interviewing multiple candidates at a time versus spending hours surfing the web, searching community job boards and setting up multiple appointments. In just one hour you can meet great babysitters, with resumes and references who are ready to meet the kids! |

Nikken
|
Maggi Addison arrived in Vancouver in 2006. Having traveled the world with her husband, John, adopting twin girls, Maggi found herself with time on her hands when the girls started Grade 1.
Maggi trained as a nurse in England 20 years ago, had a successful bi-lingual daycare in Luxembourg and owned an exclusive Bed and breakfast in the South of France. With a pilot husband, and no family support, working for someone was not an option. With the adoption of Paige and Théa from Haiti, health and home become a priority. To ensure the girls made up for their lack of beginning, Maggi aligned herself with Nikken, incorporating their products into the family home. Environmental and lifestyle solutions fitting into everyday life, Maggi can make a difference in other peoples lives. Nikken supports Autism Speaks, and has the backing of US gymnast Shannon Miller. Through Nikken, Maggi has found her balance between family and purpose. |

New & Green Baby Co.
|
After 8 years working with preemies, children and families as an Occupational Therapist, I began my family and everything changed. The entrepreneurial spirit came alive and as with many mothers, a vision formed out of a need seen in her community.
Along with many families, I desired to care for my children in an environmentally responsible and healthy manner, which influenced my choice in diapering. Making cloth diapers accessible with education and support was and continues to be a primary goal of New & Green. New & Green Baby Co. was launched in summer 2007 and it has continued to grow along with my own family, now made up two wonderful girls born in 2006 and 2008. New & Green is proud to offer educational support to families of Vancouver and beyond with our Cloth Diaper Tester Programs, Cloth Diaper 101 Workshops and Newborn Rental Kit Programs. |

Notch Hill Educational Products
|
Notch Hill Educational Products was set up by Joan Thornton and Nicola Lott, a mother daughter duo from BC who wanted to help time starved parents, have fun spending educational time with their kids.
Joan is a retired teacher who long ago learned that children learn faster and more thoroughly when they learn through games. Nicola is a designer, and passionate educator with classroom experience from 4 continents. Together the duo created a literacy program that is entirely play based and designed to guide parents through 15-20 minutes daily, of quality fun time with their children. They launched “The NogsTM of Notch Hill” - the first level of their program in July 2009, and haven’t looked back since. |
