Jill Earthy, Executive Director of FWE and Founder of Momcafe Network

Tuesday October 18, 2011 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Each day we interact with many different people, especially in our business lives. How do you identify opportunity and then leverage this interaction to build a powerful relationship? The reality is that business is based on who you know, not just what you know. However it is the quality of these interactions that is so important. Relationships take time, effort and sometimes creativity. Today, we have so many relationship building tools available, especially through social media.

In this session, we will discuss some guidelines to consider when establishing partnerships including;

- The use of filters to identify opportunities & partners;

- Tips to recognize the value for both parties;

- Types of partnerships, & tools for structuring a successful relationship.

altJill Earthy has been a connector since elementary school and became an official entrepreneur at the age of 26 with the launch of a national event staffing business. She grew this business to 1M in revenue prior to selling it in 2003. Since that time, Jill has been actively involved in the community and in the work that she loves, supporting women entrepreneurs who want to grow their businesses. by Stephanie Sang, Granted Consulting

September 20, 2011 7:00 - 9:00pm

‘Government grants aren't available for small businesses'. The conception is that government grants are only available for companies involved in technology or large manufacturers. Or, that you need to be innovative to create an iPad or biofuel cellular widgets to qualify.

Time to break that misconception and learn about what is available for your small business, yet growing businesses in B.C.

This session will answer the following questions:

  • What types of grant programs are available for B.C. businesses?
  • For businesses that are simply looking for loans, who can you go to?
  • What you need to prepare before you apply for grants?
  • What is the typical process for grant proposal submission?

stephanie_sangStephanie Sang holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from SFU and has held positions in industries including retail, hospitality and tourism, technology, and manufacturing. She is the founder of Granted Consulting, a small B.C. business dedicated to helping Canadian companies identify and leverage grant funding opportunities.
